[Confinement Warrior]

One of the longest periods of confinement is finally over. Hm not much stuff to blog about anw, fitness trainings are progressively getting tougher, but i guess we are more or less conditioned to do it now. Orion has a lot of ppl from rj, and we overlook ninja.

And yay i got the mfa tea session invite. Was so happy when they read my name at the RO.

Honeymoon over. Sleep up, watch up, and it's back to book in day =(

Ah i musnt forget. Confinement warriors. I didnt wash any no. 4s (gasp), or pt vests (gasp!), admin once, and shorts one. And i tahan 16 days lah i cant believe myself. But i do wash underwears everyday (so i'm not a normal chao recruit) and socks maybe when there's a need to. =)

Going in tmr. Hm i really dont know what's in for me. But all i know that there's at least some people to go through this journey tgt. Let's hope i dont get into those anti social moods tmr. I think there'll be some rj people around lah. Or some pri school friends arnd.

Have been spending these few days watching vids on youtube. Like taiwanese variety shows like hei se hui mei mei, kang xi lai le and yu le bai fen bai. Ah brain damage. But it has been nice. Hope i'll be able to last through at least 2 weeks without seeing them -.-

[The Economics of Sales, Shopping & Malls]

Christmas! Went arnd shopping today at raffles cty and orchard (partially to cash in on my $50 taka gift voucher) which made shopping much happier, without the need to think about overspending.

I cannot really understand why sales occur. If it was in to cash in on holiday shopping, then shouldn't shops charge even more since many people will buy anyway to give away presents. The only reason i can think of is that everyone else is doing it, so to prevent getting priced out, they charge less. But then, if sales can boost sales (haha nice pun) for virtue that people are attracted to sales, shouldn't shops wait for other shops (in the shopping centre) to announce a sale and cash in on the increase in shopper flow, rather than affecting its revenue to attract people, which can be done by others? But then, i think it's more like the first-mover advantage, where people will go first to the shop which has sales, then maybe, just maybe to other shops. Which brings us back to the second point of price competition. Woo hoo economics in real life haha.

The hols has been a time of almost total unproductivity. Other than the daily (almost) swim, studying a bit of geopolitics, daydreaming, the whole day is spent on facebook KoL youtube. Haha fun fun. Oh and kenny i'm feeling quite good =).

Come to think of it, we're really lucky to have so many malls around us. Not like in places like HK, where all the malls are concentrated at once place, which makes aimless shopping or the well documented alpha-male (like seriously haha) i-come-here-get-what-i-want-and-leave shopping all the more painful and hair-pulling-ish.

[Hongkong!]

The trip is over, the company was good, the air was filthy, but alas, it was a new experience.

1st day: Woke up very early to take the plane so was tired the whole day, and so felt rather anti social. Haha not good. But anyway, we ate at some famous wanton mee stall in some place (which we term the slum, cuz it was really slumpy) and dessert too. We went to wong tai sin temple too, which was okay. A lot of ppl forcing you to buy incense (like the corn pokers in milan), so it wasnt that nice. Oh i must say here that most toilets (actually almost all in kowloon) is very much cleaner than singapore's. Then we went to the avenue of stars (a la remake of the real one in the US) and then took a boat to lamma island for dinner. The boat ride was very nice and bumpy, wasted a hell lot of food there due to their large proportions, then went back to the mainland and hotel. The porter (ok lah only 1 of them) was quite -.- in my opinion, cuz the way he acts shows that he lives for the tips. Quite sad. Oh but they show nice programmes on tv.

2nd day: Was at disneyland! Nicenice bought some nice stuff, sat some good rides, ate some funky stuff. There was a parade of the disney characters which was really nice to see, and the lighting up of the famous disney castle and the fireworks was great too. There was quite a long queue for the rides, but i guess that's part and parcel.

3rd day: Woke up super early for dim sum breakfast, quite a letdown though. Then went to some place that remembers the handover of HK to china, then took a group photo which was used in a rip-off plan to kope our money haha. It was quite chilly cuz of the sea breeze. After that it was off to the repulse bay where we 1. gawked at expensive homes 2. touched some statues that brought wealth and marriage and kids 3. some more chilly breeze. Then we went to tussads and ate some goose, which was good. After that, with everyone thinking that the day is over, we went to the 2 "tourist attractions" of the jackie chan jewel shop and another selling chinese med.

4th day: Was at ocean park!!! Really enjoyed the day there with the crazy rides like the abyss (a 50 storey thing that brings u up slowly and crashes down vv quickly (so u have a pt in time when your eyes see that u are near the ground, but your body feels that you are still hovering in the air - queasy). I also liked the mine train (deceptively adrenaline-rushed ride with its steep downs) and space wheel (my personal favourite). What it does is that it is actually a horizontal ferris wheel that lifts off to become an upright ferris wheel and it spins and spins. Nice adrenaline rush. Not much things to buy though. Oh and my first try at go-karting, it was quite fun, but the steering was hard and painful on the palms.

5th day: Free and easy. Bought some stuff and boarded the plane home. Customs took vv long to clear. Singaporeans should have more stations lah, just like the citizens in their home countries. The taxi queue was quite efficient though.

[Once Upon A December]

Prom was great. I mean the company was great, the friends were great, the photos were great. The food was, once again a rip-off. But what's new. Amidst the sometimes >< hosting, off tunes (painfully some times).

Prom is quite something actually. It's almost usually the last time people see other, mostly for the not so close friends or those that you did not put too much effort with, but that what people do is that they take a few pictures then they leave without saying much, then they go off to hang arnd with friends that they know they will see in the near future. Ah the human psyche.

Ok i will off to the place where they speak English in convoluted melodies, so bye! Be back on the 10th! Maybe i'll pick up some canto and their English accent haha.

[Arctic]

Prom table outing was quite fun lah. Waited for latecomers (as usual) and lanned cs. Yeah first time had more than 100 frags so that's quite cool. Sam was owning all of us with his secret training and stuff. Then lunched at some famous wanton mee stall and then pooled for like 5 hours. Quite crazy lah, while watching Singapore vs Vietnam.

Arcade next. Daytona is darn cool. Feels good driving MANUAL cars with steering wheels. Haha i must go learn driving when im free. And we massed bishibashi but we died quite early >< 5.69 seconds for the flower growing thing haha winner.

[Finale]

It's finally over! I think i might have one of the longest a level time frame but phew it's gone. We'll never know if our answers are right, or whether our scripts got exposed to the elements and became soggy in the snow after being left overnight by a particular cambridge professor, or whether anyone had a frame shift mutation that will destroy his mcqs. (although now is not the time to worry about such stuff)

Now is the time to lament "oh i am so bored i feel that i have no goals in my life after exams are gone" LOL at that. Rather, go get something to do like spent all your time on youtube and facebook :) or for the hardworking ones go study uni stuff haha. Alternatively, you can always sit around and look sophisticated.

Navy sent some board game thing which was quite nicely done. I wonder how much money the SAF sets aside for publicity. Before was the airplanes, now it's this. I wonder if the army will send chess pieces with modern units. That will be rather cool.

An attempt (feeble?) to revive this blog 2 days before my last h3 paper.

Firstly thanks for all the well wishes on facebook sms msn haha. Nice. Empirical evidence from the economist is quite cool, and at least it sometimes has some economic analysis by some different people. Haha will go and read some cheem books online soon.

Oh and the rsaf thingy quite fun. The jet sound makes the airforce quite exciting. Who's going?

[The Beginning of the End]

*Sighs at overly cliched title* but who cares really. It really is lah.

Prelims are over! Hm the results are not too good i guess DACCA. I died for H3, but i guess i know what went wrong there so it's ok. The D for econs is quite bad, so i need to see what i can do with it. At least i got 2 As, for chem and gp. Maths was quite disappointing, which i got a C. All in all, i made improvements in all the subjects, so i guess take things as it is lah.

Interviews for law fac were said to end at about ABB with good GP last year. With the higher (hopefully) standard of prelims, hope i can get one. If not business school not bad eh. Maybe it's time i consider something else haha.

Quite a number of people did quite well so that's great, and those who didnt dont give up yah there's still time, although not much. Redoing things do wonders actually.

RWC is the latest addiction and i found the most unlikely people who watch it - the twins! Haha they support aussie though. Go all blacks! Go kick some frenchies today!

[Videos!]

Boston legal is good! Haha had watched one show on one of the late nights. James Spader, who acts as an attorney alan shore makes good closing statements.

This is the one i watched on tv. The case was about a homeless man who cremated his homeless friend (who is his only friend) and ate him (a leg) because he was starving. It seems that cremation without approval or license is illegal in Massachusetts (where it is set in). Shore is the defending attorney and the verdict was a not guilty.

The next one is one of my favourites out of those i watched on youtube. This one is about Kelly Nolan, who is charged for murder of her rich husband. She had an affair, and did many other undesirable things. That said, there was no evidence that she killed him. Shore was once again defending attorney and the verdict was not guilty.

This one isnt from boston legal, but a stand up comedian called Eddie Izzard. About learning french. You frenchies should understand. There's translation somewhere that you can read too.

[Arrow's Moral Hazard]

Back to blogging. Rawr so many people already either close them, stop blogging or just plain lagg. Haha i just finished maths so that's good! Will start on maths revision exercises which look okay lah. Maybe i'll do it until tmr, then i restart on h3 econs.

Which makes me feel kinda guilty, cuz everyone seems to be mugging their guts out for their own h3s, while the h3 econs ppl like me are enjoying life and devoting our energies to other things. Maybe becuz it's a humans subject, so it's less study. Like how the hell do you study for case study other than reading up on theories, and more theories. Bhagwati is now my best friend, not only for econs, but also for gp haha.

I was also looking a bit at economic methods (which is very very ulu and most likely i wont do it unless i had no choice), and i came across a term called irrational escalation. It says that people want to maximise their utility, but sometimes they do things against the principle to "stay the course".

Like omg. When i was doing the gp assignment my brain just degen. There was this article by Muggeridge. Who says that we shouldnt pursue happiness or progress cuz it degens the world around us into a bad place. And that science is something he sneers at (which makes me think of monty python suddenly), cuz you dont know everything with science. So with the blake argument, that since you dont know everything, you know nothing, science really sucks. And he goes on about how religion (or his religion) is the way to go. I gag and die at the AQ.

[Nat Day Celebration]

This year's nat day was quite okay i guess, something new for it to be at night, but seriously i thought there was really no need to. But anw. Haha played mahjong which was quite fun and then go queue up to get food which was hell of a disaster cuz there were so many people. Wont they be better off if they just packed, or better still give us money to buy our own dinner haha (although this definitely wont happen lah)

LOL this year got 2 champion houses, all starting with B. Whoa damn lot of suspense lah. And haha the emcees were quite caustic lah.

Am doing portfolio now. Yup studies can go eat some shit now. I'm done with org and phy chem though. So what's left is inorg bio and econs rawr. And how long more? Ok lah still got 5 weeks can. I'll finish the portfolio by sunday, then i'll study inorg chem. Then bio. Then econs. Haha.

Did quite well for the chem tests so that's good. I learnt from my mistakes in ct2. Like the terrible ct2.

[Squashy]

I am done with mr wong's testimonial thing. Now. I dunno if i should send it out now, cuz i might want to make changes esp in the "which scholarship am i aiming for" section. Oh heck. I'll send it out now. It has been quite long since i reflected about myself so it was a nice thing to do yay!

IHC badminton was fun. Haha though the results wont exactly quite good. Well i guess squashers cant play really good badminton haha. But wdv lah, quite a number of us were there so that's great. Plus some more who didnt play but came down to watch haha. I might after all, go for tennis next friday. But playing sports after not training for so long --- not too good lah.

Oh i must add. The company was great! It wasnt exactly well planned, but better than the rest lah.

I was reading a friend's blog about piracy. Could piracy (as in downloadable music, vids, not stupid ships) be a form of contestability in markets? As in ppl try to erode artificial barriers (IP, legal issues) protecting the rights of the companies. Wow like brilliant. Maybe it isnt science that has no morals. Whoops i neglected this place for quite long alr eh.

I'm done with 1st round of maths, and starting on chem, with my weakest phy chem. Tmr got test im sure tell us 2 days before. And today got gp essay. Wrote an econs essay haha i think i went out of point, but i guess that's for the marker to say.

[Quest for the Holy Ramen 3]

My grades spell bad. Time to start studying properly without 1. kol 2. watching telly and studying at 11-1 in the morn. And i realised the chem paper actually quite easy leh. Mental block i guess haha. Feel quite stupid actually.

PE was captain's ball. I thought the team played vv well so yay! But um the opponents were quite pissing so i did crazy runs just to deny them at their own game. And they dont even give the other ppl in their team a chance to play it's like ding dong ding dong pinball. Haiz. Luckily 3h isnt like that so yay again!

Econs was playtime. Haha me benz plan and samuel did some screwed up forfeit = singing econs song about gdp during class. LOL right. Just our luck to turn to that page. If we turned to "money" omg then that will be great haha. Oh and must DOTS. Great. Haha she said she was impressed!

[Grace Kelly]

Reviewing papers have become a very demoralising thing. I guess sometimes in the exam hall you dont think properly, and you get very dumb results -.- i went thru mcq and well, let's not go there. Hope i do well for the other things lah, which i highly doubt so anyway.

Civil service scholarships thing was quite interesting, and wow the lsc is something i am seriously considering besides fso and moe. Like even if without scholarship i may want to go to lsc. And MAP sounds quite interesting too.

Must sit down and rethink the options available. And study properly first.

And the live.earth concert thing. I guess it isnt really much of a impact lah in my opinion. You just see singers going up there and singing, and not much is done to tell people about global warming and things like that. I think some are treating it like any other place to promote themselves. I believe in going for sustainability, but how is something is this going to wake people up? The commercials are good though.

[Superstar = Singer?]

First day of normal school was quite exciting. Bingo in the morning for civics, maybe wanting to push us towards the IR? Bio prac was quite fun, just that i didnt had the results needed so i koped it off benlow. And counting rice haha. See until eyes pain eh.

And i wanted to blog about campus superstar yesterday. I thought the performances were not very good and they all shared the same problems: pitching (guys going flat and girls going sharp), breathing (pauses in between stanzas), beat (groove; they seem like they are singing 15th century choral compositions). I see them week in week out, and i cant really hear the differences that the judges put. And it doesnt seem to be their fault cuz the judges dont really teach them how to correct their problems, but merely pointing out their faults. They seem to be better judges of showmanship than singing talent.

But i guess that's the irony of singers. The talented ones dont get famous, the bad ones (who have looks to cover it up) do.

And. Singing isnt really a one night thing. Things like breathing, you cant really start training when you are going for comp and expect to do well. Other things like pitch and beat, you just have to listen to yourself more. Pitching esp is a poor part in all the contestants, i guess the thing about opposites work here. Low note, think high. High note, push down.

[Of Universities and Cable TV]

Someone wrote in the forum saying that his/her daughter didnt get a med interview, even with 4A and S paper merit, "maybe" because of her band 3 in pw. Like whoa. But it seems to the reader that it is the case. Well i dont really have a good result for pw, but whatever lah. But i'm all for pw being a qualitative thing rather than quantitative. If CCA is already like that, i think pw, which i believe is a lesser measure of talent than pw, why not? I mean, pw is a 10 month thing, but CCA is a 6 year thing?

I dont really like the idea of giving cut off points. Because it just further divides the cohort into the good (like med, law, dentistry, engine) and the bad (like arts and soc sciences). Although everyone thinks of it like that already, by virtue of career prospects, it doesnt mean it's right. That is why i think uni is actually something that gives people unnecessary labels. But i guess it isnt really the uni's fault, but is the people.

Cable TV is increasing again, i got nothing much to say except haha. Well i dont subscribe to cable tv so it doesnt really affect me. Well it seems that a lot of people are pissed and i think they have the right to, esp those in the lock in period. Of course, contract always say "the company can....without prior notice"

Then, can i say i exit the deal, without prior notice?

[Holiday Home in St. Moritz]

Life has been good for the past few days. I screamed through chem, think will go back to it before cts being again, but i guess can take test already lah (just that all the explanation and definition questions all get zero) haha. SAT was fine. Well, i think i finished too fast, that the invigilator had this bewildered expression when i looked at the clock each time i was done.

Being playing total club manager and it got quite boring already. Played inter milan, cuz ac just had too many players and i was tired of selling them all. Right. I have a game with man utd but it became quite screwed up cuz all my left wing backs trained and become centre backs sheesh. And i have a millwall one, which is quite good just that i got pissed that i cant renew the work permit for one of my youth players so there it goes.

Last day of the term, didnt really feel like one. More golds coming in from the past few days, shit we are koping all the golds, then our acad will suck like hell. I think that will be the tradeoff. Hope it wont happen, but i think it might just happen. We'll see next yr.

Handball module is over, still played keeper and saved a few shots. The only nagging thing is big angle shots and one on one jump shots. Still cannot save. Ooh zheng did a top corner diving save haha i never needed to do that cuz i am always there lol.

Rest of the day is damn sluggish. Slacked arnd and went to jalan besar to watch soccer girls 3rd/4th. Back to school after that for squash dinner. Not bad quite a good number attended. Crystal jade then gelare. Spent quite some time getting voucher (some $5 capitamall voucher for >$80 purchase) haha that was amusing. Went back with ernest. Haha i guess squashers usually like playing the same sports and be gks for handball and soccer.

[The Journey]

Memorable day today at the 2 finals. Oh btw i think i wrote an econs paper haha. AQ was relatively easier, hope i dont need to mince my words lol.

Netball was a great experience, nice to see them winning gold after 23 years. Talk about waiting for such a long time. Leading from start to finish, except at one point when hc got the lead, they outplayed and outlasted hci to win. Brilliant. Whoops havent write article yet. Need 1 quote from the captain haha will ask her tmr. Good job to carol the boss, (GS turned WA?) amanda and all the rest too! Long ball ftw!

Rugby. Haha actually i didnt want to go (whoops) cuz it was so late but i peer-pressured and went for it lah. Didnt regret it as the game was terrific. The journey there was quite cool too. RJ beat ACS(I) like omg omg omg. The emotions were also damn high and almost every cheered until no more voice ggxx. 10-10 going into extra time, 1 penalty kick and rj won. Kudos to nazi (the imba spinner) and all the other ruggers. Made raffles proud of you.

Was a hassle getting back, but the journey (once again) was well spent.

[Concentration of Water]

Is it just me, or is j2 like more slack than j1? PE was handball so i was keeper again, and outfield for some time. Managed to save all except the imba one-on-one with raymond. Darn it, but the shot was good so whatever. Anw. We played soccer at the amphi until we like died and degened to play soccer-squash.

Then play play play do maths suan people until almost 7. Then the shittiest time of the year came and i waited for the bleeding 59 for like 40 plus minutes and it was so crowded (actually it wldnt make sense if it wasnt) and before it came there were 4 88s, 3 56s, and all the other buses came twice at least bloody retarded. This gives me more reason to believe mr wong and my parents to get a licence as fast as possible, cuz public transport is really vv inefficient and cars are so much better.

If you really want to save the environment, then walk to school and work. Economics doesnt really give this much shit, although it should to a certain extent, but not to the extent that it affects how people live, and utility.

Ranty mood lol. KoL was bad today i farmed quite little up to now only 52000 meat. And a lot of unsold items cuz there are ppl spoiling market now! (if they didnt have so many items i wld have spoilt too -.- karma haha) And the traveling trader left alr!!! So no more twinkly wads nazir!

[Pound Transfer]

I realised i havent been blogging for quite some time. Haha the week has been fine, passing out for press, no more squash trainings, passing over season, doing organ donation stuff blah blah blah. I now grow to like handball, but there's no such cca in rj! Urgh maybe if i was a j1 i will like bring it up to the school, but now like what the heck forget it. Seen vids of keepers during the world cup and olympics shit they damn pro although handball is like a high scoring game -.- so good save pcts are like 40%? Lol.

ORA at rgs was fun. Well i guess been on prime land makes the school smaller than ri or rj, but it's no doubt cosier. Met some ppl tt i have not seen for quite some time, so tt's good. Some of the ambassadors were quite imba, so the box was filled quite a bit.

Not much done these days until then chem and bio. And restarted on tcm 2003 with millwall. Haha drew first game retard noobs. Then i saw the expectations from the board was like 16th in the table. Like whoa only got 24 teams leh so they must suck like hell in 2003.

I havent blogged about squash finals! Um yeah we didnt win double, but i guess we really fought vv hard so there's really nothing to complain about! I really liked our team cohesion and spirit. So we went to pizza hut at suntec, where service was really v slow, which made some ppl quite unhappy. Well i guess u just have to please hungry people =)

Mugged for maths and bio spa, then i read the email saying that chem test got postponed!!! Woo hoo present from the heavens. And i was thinking how will i find time to study for it. But then, i still quite scared for maths test. Haiz.

Man utd won at man city like whoa. Who cares if it's a penalty. Let's hope arsenal wins at chelsea, or force a draw then the title will be man utd's!

Yay the girls won gold again! 4-1 a very good score. The match was v exciting, not much scares (which is v good). Hope the guys win on friday! The support was very nice today, the crowd was good. Haha but i guess no one else other than the team really knows much about squash, so they are just cheering because they see us doing so haha.

Wow there's quite a bit of homework to be done now. There's chem optional questions, chem extra questions and there's still season article to write. Argh i will write it when i come home tml or something.

Long day today. I guess the day was quite boring, econs was free period so it was vv slack, then 2 hours of bombshell chem. I dunno what the hell i am doing at this hour (i shld be gg to sleep so i can play squash tml but who cares). GP we watched some video about india and globalisation which is quite cool.

Pastamania's prawns and shrooms is not very nice. Expected something better, maybe beef bolognese is the best bet there, after i got sick of creamy chicken.

The last few days were quite ok i guess. Meeting at ljs for organ donation with 100000 flies flying around the place was not very good. I guess the structure now is quite good, and we are all making good progress.

Argh missed pe (and econs test haha) for ns checkup. It was nice talking to some ppl along the way. And guess what's the topic of discussion. My crooked backbone! Haha anw got a pes b, so quite happy still can become officer. Unlike some c2l2 haha. But chill man, u can still go for it, must silver for napfa first.

There's been much hype about organ donation. Let's put it that it is understandable why people might be unwilling to let their organs be used for research and education, but there is really no comprehensible idea why they do not want their organs to be given. I'll give them away lah. As in, to save others why not? And since the medical team treating you, and the transplant team is different, the medical team have the incentive to treat you well (mental wellbeing or material gain or otherwise). And i think giving your organs away are a safety net that u are really dead. I hate thinking of suddenly becoming alive before burial and cremation (horrors. although i doubt it will happen)

Oh squash semis. Girls totally steamrolled 5-0. Guys won 3-2. Wow it was kind of a roller coaster. I think everyone played well, and there was really something called team. Although it's an individual sport. Sometimes u get more team in indiv sports than team ones.

Squash captains are out, congrats to those in, don't take it too hard for those who didn't make it. The feeling seriously sucks i know, been through these type of shit enough times to know the pain. But hell with it and move on people.

H3 was interesting. Love going for it every week. No exception this week. I was one of the 9 (but in the end not much people were left) that said Gabriel's post wasnt drivel, and stated it as an example of the people's reaction to tax cuts, which they deem (and it's true) that it will always benefit the rich more than the poor. I thought that the amount of beer consumed (or in reality the amount of goods consumed) is not an issue here. Perhaps you all here think so too?

The extract is as follows:

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.

If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.

The fifth would pay $1.

The sixth would pay $3.

The seventh would pay $7.

The eighth would pay $12.

The ninth would pay $18.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that's what they decided to do.

It's already the new day, ah what the heck, just finished season layout (actually not really finished still left with 2 pages which are not in yet). I dont feel very sleepy, but i think i will sleep soon cuz got things to do tml like bio tutorial and econs tutorial.

Raffles Press exco. I am going to hand over soon already, maybe 2 more weeks before i retire from doing layout, and maybe a few more weeks then i will retire from reporting. I guess it was fruitful, although there were many screwed up times. We changed our name to Raffles Press, we focused more on journalism, we did Campus, we did the new look and no-council season, we did something remotely like a cip, we trained our j1s to write reasonably well for season. I guess, 300 words for best achievement is not much. I guess this is the first time i really did something from scratch, from negotiation, to printing contract, to writing article, to layout, to final product.

Not bad. I leave press in peace.

No PE so did chem and slacked. Econs was alright lah, and so was chem. 2017 is a good concept, wangting never fails to amaze me, with his commitment to his idea. I was quite pissed off, not with the videoing, not with the concept, but with something called commitment. I mean. Say yes must come down punctually lah. Actually that wasnt the thing that pissed me off. It was what i heard (i wasnt supposed to hear that but what the heck).
But i didnt regret going for the 2017 thing. I didnt say much lah, but i said what i felt. Definitely i could have said something better, but i guess sometimes the spark just doesnt come. The 3M girls were quite funny haha when they were standing outside A67 with me and plan.

Mahjong haha. Won 7 tai limit! Haha not bad eh. ODAC (um it's not what u think it is) meeting was cool. Hehe i think it will be a good project, but we need to work hard from now.

U know, what will become of us in 10 years time? Maybe some of us will get married, some wont yet, some working and earning millions, some just getting by...i dunno. I wished that after 10 years, i made an impact on people's lives positively.

I really have serious second thoughts already. Perhaps people change, the things lost, perhaps they will come again, in another form, in another person.

[Hell Ramen]

Today was quite a good day. Had econs which was quite ok, she seems quite happy with what i was saying in class haha. GP was slack, cuz we were not really doing much work, and surfing discovery channel web for their myths and what not until we got busted haha. Then it was off to national museum which was quite good, although i didnt really like some of the exhibits but oh well that's art i guess.

Singapore history is really quite bland, compared to european history (did i tell u before that i dropped h2 history cuz i didnt want to do SEA history?), but i guess the audios and visuals made it come alive. I explored the personal track (in comparison to the events track) of singapore history and it was definitely more interesting like u see how ppl lived and things. There was a japanese artifact on display (i think she was a member of the oldest profession in the world or smthg like tt) so it was quite shocking to see something japanese when we are not talking about ww2 in the singapore history section.

The song at the 1st station is quite cool what. Why everyone dun like -.- anw. Zaoed back to school for interviews after Hershey's sundae pie <3. Not bad the interview aiyah the headache comes in when you screen applicants twice, once for entry and once for exco.

I need to emo a bit. Have u ever experienced the time when you gave up on something, then the thing you liked about that something u chose slowly decreases (or so u think), and that trait comes out stronger and stronger in the thing that u rejected? And the times when the things u didnt like in that something which u gave up on slowly going away in that something, and surfacing in that something which u chose? And i finally realised what makes me think highly of certain people. Confidence (+100 moxie), self-belief (+50 muscle, +50 moxie, regenerates 50-60 HP for each critical hit) and a certain amount of spontaneity (+200 mysticality). Oh i just realised mysticality isnt a word lol.

[Chansons pour les belle]

I really dont like mondays. The day is long, longer with h3, longer with training, and lessons are really boring. I really dont mind if they shift something like pe over to monday, so at least the day is broken up quite nicely. Now there's a break for lunch, and nothing else. Was kinda pissed off with season for the entire day but i guess it didnt really affect me much, as much as something like that will affect others.

Econs was quite stupid, cuz i was talking about business cycles and i think she didnt catch my point and asked me to draw some shift in the AS curve which i went like huh. Was super unproductive lah, but at least there was ppl like mie to talk econsy stuff about so it was slightly better. Still quite peeved at her comments but wdv. Wont brood over it. Chem was quite -.- but oh well mr wong has the right to scold us for shitty pw results, but on the other hand he doesnt. I mean, the mark doesnt really justify the amount of work we put in. Yeah we kinda slacked around for pw at the start of the year, but most/if not all of us got our act together to do some wr and eom and pi and op, which was all okayed and then we get a B.

I mean, the marks have no correlation to the amount of effort we have put it. Granted, our tutors are all kinda pissed with us, because i think our class is something special. Because we got life. Maybe.

Passed my h3 econs case study woo hoo godlike. Went for trng for squash elections not bad the ppl i voted for all got into the interview round. Hope they get it. And then went back with laura and talked about some stuff. Actually i feel quite guilty about this, but what can we do, if he doesnt want to give himself a chance? The irony of choice.

Today is a good day let me tell u why (although it's fri the 13, where stupid plot holes kope my meat in kol but who cares it's pittance for them lol). I got silver for napfa, which means 2 months less for ns! But quite a number of 3h ppl din get it, so must help!!

[Theatre of the Dreams]

Had a pleasant surprise today when i opened soccernet. Man Utd 7-1 AS Roma. Haha i almost burst out laughing lah. Like whoa 7 goals in champs league who will believe it man. So when i came back home i was watching youtube (ah the wonders of technology) of the 7 goals. It's a shame that AS Roma got so owned like that, cuz de rossi's goal was really vv nice. But just that the result was too disappointing alr at that pt that there wasnt really any cause for celebration.

I hope chelsea loses to liverpool in the semis. And lose the premiership. Whee treble ftw!

The scholarship thing is quite boring to be honest (got ~~teachers~~ people dozing off) But i guess what he says about over-diversifying is true, that having too many scholarships in too many diff areas tells the interviewer that you dont really know what you want. But then, some ppl may select jobs based on subject area, rather than professional area. Like economics (you can take MOE scholarship, and a AGD scholarship), which is quite far apart, but actually it isnt.

[Deutschland]

I thought civics was quite meaningful today. I saw ben writing on religion, but then i didnt have much space left on the half page (koped from benzheng) so i made do with my answer. It will be a tough fight between the people arnd me, and religion. But perhaps, friends will win. I wrote the entry to mr wong like it was like a blog post. Then it dawned on me i needed to use up more than 1 page of A4 to just tell him about religion, cuz this was not something that most buddhists believe in, so i felt happy writing about friends nevertheless.

See, in buddhism, there is a difference between different types of buddhas. I regard buddhas as those who do not receive teachings, but gain enlightenment by themselves, so they keep the knowledge to themselves, and teach the devas (semi-godlike creatures), and the Bodhisattvas (who are almost buddha, but help people to reach enlightenment, ultimate goal in the Mahayana school of thought) Oh shit i realised that it wont make sense if you knew nothing about the religion, so wiki it first haha it's good for you. (religion is in term 3 gp, after all)

Criticisms of Buddhism is something i read at leisure, which i agree sometimes, like reincarnation into animals, and things like that. Omg why am i blogging on this, i will do a good one after the As on my religion then. Haha those who know can keep it to yourself first lol.

Had a good time with the bens during math block haha, then bio was playtime, (much to the chagrin of mr ong), and also lessons on pitch with the trusty e-flat-flat (like the e-flat is flat) forceps (i think). Not much noteworthy alr, just that the gic speaker talks like my dad (and his colleagues) (must be something got to do with finance thingy). He's a good speaker quite funny, i like his DOTS without slides and things, and it made the atmosphere much more relaxing, that people could just spout questions and comments and everyone felt it was okay. Wow. Refreshing. Haha he told us to go japan, or germany. But UK? It's in europe, so u can trade in europe not bad right? I wish i could go to germany, but i dont think i want to spend a year learning the language yar?

I think i am blogging very regularly this days (actually not i think, i really am). Shit these are the days when you just want to write some stuff about your day. Today was a freaking slack day, for thursday's standards so it was good. Didnt really listen much for chem lecture cuz i was reading benlow's book (or is it amanda's) (or is it a leaflet) about why christ had to die on the cross. No im not a christian but i always liked reading about religions and stuff. The other things i like to read about is hist and politics of other nations and thoughts. Very interesting and nice read.

Couldnt really absorb much from the subsequent lectures and maths. PE was weights room. Surprisingly slack for a before-napfa afternoon slot. I thought (or all of us thought) we will be doing some circuits again. Then it was carom connect-4 more carom time. I self destructed lol.

Looks like my elucidations for other people are not really very correct. I prefer to admit that this is due to a time lag between elucidation and real situation.

Zheng asked why hannibal was so famous. I told him it was because of his elephant tactics. Shit i totally shortchanged hannibal lah. He's actually so pro, that the romans were so scared of him that when some shit came they said hannibal was at their gates. The $9 million question, why the difference in amounts levied on property and liquidity in estate duty? I think it is because the govt prefers people to keep their property with them a la because of like sentimental value and stuff. And it may bring like undesirable effects like for example: someone who inherits a $500,000 flat but has no money to pay, so becomes a burden. The reason why money is taxed so low, i think, is because they are concerned that people may start splurging, so they levy a tax to reduce the amount they have. And also for income equality? Like wanting people to start on the same footing, rather than having a headstart because of inheritance.

Did a law question for gp ggxx. Cuz there wasnt anything on political theory to write on, or history, or war, or religion, so i stuck to law. U wont ever catch me writing a media or tech question out of my own free will, if other questions exist. I rather write a philo question lol.

Today was quite a good day, albeit it was quite boring. Civics was show and tell, so the quiet ppl got their turn to speak while noisy ppl like us didnt so not bad. Eh i brought stuff okay dont say i slacker. GP got B. Whoa got pwned for compre lah like almost fail, lucky my A essay saved me lah. Whee politics essays rock!

Went to paya lebar coffee and toast (whoa didnt know something like this existed) to discuss hota with plan and felicia. Nice meeting which was super productive. Then chiong proposal until now, whilst sai kang-ing ppl along the way (whoops slavedriving, or empowerment in politically correct terms)

Haha i rmb watching the council vid on some 2017 thing during maths. Then YJ was saying, "Raffles to me, means sai kang. Sai kang i enjoy" How true. Sometimes we can bitch about how much shit we have to do and take, but we all do it willingly. I think it's something with the culture of the school where everyone just takes such stuff in their stride. I'm proud to do sai kang for raffles man.

[Graphing Techniques]

Got back maths got B thanks. Now it's left with gp. Whoa first to do last to get back. Shit i damn scared i screw up my gp. At least i got saved for maths by integration (whoa like totally the dark horse man). Got kicked by graphing techniques (as expected).

Lectures, classes and lab were cool. H3 was cooler learnt a great deal of stuff there, abt coase theorem and the tragedy of the commons. Wow it made my day man. Waited for some ppl to do pt before gg for dinner and home.

Oh and during lunch we (the guys) stood in one line with flames (uh. cellophane paper actually) and sang borah a birthday song. I think it's quite interesting. She got fighting fish as present. Wow rather exotic man.

Just wrote squash article and it looks good to me. Yay! Now can rest and relax until thur and fri when all the shit starts to come in.

I dunno, but sometimes the heart controls the mind. Heart over mind, that's what they call it. I'm feeling quite topsy turvy now, cuz i dunno if what i have done has affected you. Do say, if it does. I am happy. Tee hee things have been going well, including HOTA and eyesight!

HOTA proposal is going well, i guess it's on schedule, so that's quite good for something that is done so rushed. Hope it doesnt get rejected too many times. Eyesight has been good, increasing 25 only. Which is quite good considering my imba eyesight which is probably thrice yours. Unless you are also blind, then maybe i am only slightly higher than you. If you cant even see silhouettes, than dont bother comparing. You beat me.

Bumming arnd these few days, reading economist about hedge funds (shorting and long is so cool) and other stuff. I always skip science and tech, i suppose much to the chagrin of kevin ho. Lol. Haha man utd whoop ass yay! Lol what happened to arsenal. Crouch > Arsenal ftw!

Was reading about the Baha'i faith. I guess that there are some things that cannot be reconciled between the major religions, such as reincarnation and the eternity of hell (or even, the existence of it). I am inclined to think that maybe the gods people of different religions see are actually different images of the same person (god?) But i guess baha'i isnt something i am looking for considering i am a more look-for-religion-to-solve-otherwise-unsolvable-stuff.

I do have my doubts about Buddhism, and not ready to recant on them. Just that i think some things dont really make sense to me, not just in Buddhism, but also in other religions. I guess people do get shocked when i tell them i dont believe in something in Buddhism, but that's what i am. I'm happy with buddhism, i'm with you labeling me as one, but heck no let me decide what i want to believe in. My point being: don't follow blindly, believe only when your brain and your heart says yes. I know people who really blindly believe and it affects them.

Judging from the things i have to do, looks like i'll be busy in the morning tml! Yawns better go slp soon.

Got back papers econs was not so good, well i guess i just have to remember to define stuff, and do more evaluative statements. I easily could get 3 for evaluation i guess. And must mug diagrams more closely im sure my diagram die. Chem was nice. Got a good grade, although not as good as promos (like duh haha) but am satisfied. Need more work for physical chem dammit. Oh, got full marks for elucidation so i am imba happy. But then ppl arnd aint doing so well so that decreases the happiness by quite a bit. Dont take it too hard people!

After plan's wed pt, mr siva and mr gopi's circuits and mr "miracle man" leong's circuits, woo hoo life's feeling *good* again. But it's good for us so no complaints. Must start doing HOTA things, which i guess will take up some time. Why i am i still blogging haha.

Was invited for moe scholarship talk. Made it more difficult to choose between teaching and foreign service. Definitely my first two choices, but it's just the order. Found on scholar-teacher with the same dilemma and i guess she's happy with what she is now. Maybe i shld wait for a fso one, then make my decision. Changed my 5 choices for uk to lse and warwick. Had some good feedback about warwick. Still not applying for US whee.

[H3 Econs time!]

First day back in school, the feeling is quite alright. I passed bio, which will (i hope) be the worse subject yet again. Rawr from the days when you could screw up tests and still get your 4.0. My mcq and essay was killed. H3 test was killer. Haha. I knew what was coase theorem, but i just cant rmb it on the spot. DOTS failedzxz. I wanted to write some crap on transaction costs but i realised it wont make sense and i'll risk myself getting owned so i wrote a generic agreement sentence and left the whole thing blank.

Coase theorem: In the absence of transaction costs, all govt allocation of property rights is equally efficient as any externalities will be corrected through private bargaining, which will be achieved by the party that is able to fully utilise the property. See kenny i know what the hell it is man.

And more econsy stuff!

Rybczynski theorem: If one of two factors of production is increased, more of the good that utilises that increased fop will be produced, resulting in a reduction in price.

Factor price equilisation: Prices of the same type of fop will become similar due to competition in the same market.

Heckscher-Ohlin theorem: Labour-abundant country exports labour-intensive good, capital-abundant country exports capital-intensive goods. (i suppose that this will be the economic theory with regards to comparative advantage)

[Train hard, fight easy]

Been super-unproductive these few days, but frankly i dont really care. Definitely a good time to r&r, then the week starts again bleargh. I hope tml is a slack day.

Went gymming, then met the squash people to go to james's house, which is omg freaking big. PS XBox Laura's weepy and corny korean drama mahjong mahjong and more mahjong. Oh i must mention that to go his house must climb a damn deep drain. Ok lah not very deep but is deeper than my height. Woo hoo obstacle course ftw!

Been doing research on university courses (again), been reading up on religion (which coincidentally is part of gp term 2 syllabus). I cant believe i have been forsaking yahoo mahjong to read up on "Criticisms of Buddhism", "Criticisms against Evolution", "Criticisms for Intelligent Design" and for some other religions too like christianity.

My voice is dying. Not a good sign. Campus is on hold, season is starting omgwtfbbq. The shit starts now.

And i must say i've been missing regular classes alr. J2 is one stressful time when the only time you really get to talk to people during exam periods is the good lucks and last minute hyperventilating seconds before papers. Oh i must mention also the after paper bitching. After taking so many science papers, you really get sick of science. Maybe if i took arts i will be tired of it also, and i wont have any chance to change to science. At least i got a choice now haha.

CTs are over! Finally in 6 years i dont finish my tests on the last day yay! Haha anw good luck to the physics people. The papers are quite alright i guess, but not exactly to the extent that i can do well for them. Econs case study was geoggie (horrible stuff), essay was quite good haha samuel spot question quite accurate.

Bio was quite a struggle to be honest, the paper was quite fast paced that i just had enough time to chiong thru 4b) and then they said stop writing, then give us another 4 minutes, where i squeeze out another point, and that's it. At least i didnt have to skip questions cuz they were quite do-able. They didnt test krebs cycle and calvin cycle again wtf. To think i studied like hell for things like phosphofructokinase and dihydroxyketone phosphate. Urgh.

Maths was quite killer. Integration killzxz i got no answer for my volume O_O. I managed to solve the complex number question but i dunno if my answer is correct. Vectors was quite good haha i got same answer as benlow yay!

Chem was like some mad rush. I guess it was a fair paper, but the time was too tight to really do well for it i think. Well i really dunno how i will fare. MCQs in 6 minutes ftw! I just realised. I thought i did it in 11, the clock said 3:35, i remembered.

Time for mahjong, economists and h3. Haha life is exciting again, no more boring mugging for the time being. I think sometimes Singapore kids study too much stuff which are irrelevant. See in LSE people study 4 courses a year! And one course is like not too much also like "The Great War 1914-1918". Like whoa.

Not that RJ people are studying a lot of stuff, like really to the extent of can die, but i think studying topics that have relevance to like the real world is better. I see totally no purpose in studying about endocrine system without knowing how this affects what researchers use to make insulin. That's why i like econs. U just cant run away from the real thing. Esp maths: complex numbers do no shit in the real world man, and vectors, and so much things. I think the only thing that is relevant in P&C, AP/GP, Differentiation and Integration. See 4 courses for a year! Haha.

[Un Giorno, Scoprono]

Mugging is therapeutic. When done in small amounts. CT mugging is really quite lousy, cuz i cant really stay focused and stuff. Now there's no more campus to get distracted, so i play yahoo mahjong lol. Not bad can win big sometimes.

Speaking about getting distracted, i was watching yu le bai fen bai on channel u. Then they were talking about how they wanted to be in school again, and not be working. Well i guess they have valid points, but schooling still has a fair share of troubles. Guess i will never understand their feelings until i start working myself. And i was also looking at university prospectuses (again) and it's lse ucl manchester now! Got something to do with politics, int'l relations, econs and the like. And SAT II really sucks, so it's bye bye. World history cmi (wth ask about maya), American history more cmi. Chinese ftw!

Past few days were fine maths was ok, i finally went to tutorial prepared and was quite happy with it. Econs was refreshing to be honest, she was being nice and all so that made lesson quite enjoyable. Cleared up a doubt about exchange rates and savings so that's something new learnt. After econs went lunch with kenny and benlow. Talked to kenny for quite a while and over dinner, quite exciting. Must find more people to talk to (something tells me this not the best time but wdv man)

Must do some revision exercises alr. Holiday bio, chem tys, holiday maths. What's for econs?! Haha derive on the spot (or in zheng's lingo DOTS).

[450]

This is post number 450. Woo i have come quite a long way. And lots of time wasted here =( but i guess it's something that i can use to remember my past (or what's recorded here).

Went for smu open house today. Quite a letdown to be honest, law esp cuz they seem not be actively marketing it, and their answers are rather generic to entice me. NUS law seems so much better, maybe because it's more established and stuff. Accountancy is quite a good choice, and i am looking at a second major in finance, rather than quantitative finance as the guy there recommended cuz my dad says that options and bond pricing is nothing much -_- haha. And professional degrees, still give some weight i guess. My parents think i'm crazy doing double degree in acc and law, but if i dont try i'll never know ya?

And so i narrowed my choices to 5: acc & law, law with masters, law, acc and acc with finance. First 4 at nus the last at smu. I decided to drop pp off the list cuz it isnt terribly interesting. LSE looks quite imba, but im sticking to 3 lse courses as yet govt/econ, int'l relations and acc & finance (i cant run away can i). And PPE at ox. Which is quite competitive so i must start bucking up and do properly.

I need to pwnz maths and gp. Not much of a problem. The problem comes in when standard offer for BBA is BBA (haha damn pun lah) and LSE is AAB. Hopes a levels are as good as promos, and i can just kope an extra mark for econs, and plus more 1337 skillzxzxz and more mugging time can get good marks.

Finished chem bio econ alr. I need to start maths and start learning stuff from 11B and 13A. Haha the lecture was terribly useless. And i still can do 11B assignment with not much problems surprise surprise. Complex number certainly pales in complexity compared to stupid 3d vectors.

I told my parents if i didn't need to care about jobs and money, i will sac everything and take political science at nus. Then they gave me the wth look. Haha quite funny.

Today is a good day cuz vivek send me 'je te donne' plus i have now küssen verboten, alles nur geklaut, deutschland and millionär. Oh these are german songs from the band "Die Prinzen" or The Prince. They got good technique, former choir singers. Breathing got no sound i like. And their vids are quite funny. Quite old though.

[NUS Open House]

Whee went for nus open house today. Kent ridge is quite a big place, and bukit timah a la law fac campus is quite small and cosy. Ok i guess i was too one track (or few track) mind when i went there cuz i totally ignored med dentistry science engine and the other stuff. Went only for law and bizad's accountancy prog. USP was quite a surprise and i am thinking of it.

The difference in faculty is really quite extreme there. Like at bizad and fass (i din go there but since it was btwn law and bizad so i saw) the exhibition booth was run mainly by the teachers while at law it's more of the students. Same as bukit timah.

So now my choices are bizad/accountancy (single, or with law or public policy) or law (single, with bizad or pp) So that's 5 nus choices not bad. Oh i must mention that i went to see a mock moot and it was quite exciting cuz it was totally run by the students (i think) and it was quite funny. "Counsel, what is your opinion on the difference between the nus and smu law programme?" *dies* The answer was good i like.

Will go and see smu tml. Woo hoo totally sac ntu.

[Economic Cycle]

These few days quite topsy turvy. Got my first A for GP essay, passed econs (lol din expect haha), got crushed for 10 mark question cuz didnt quote case material and got half of the marks (full marks, without the case material how silly), gged for chem (mixed things up. urgh.).

This thursday was surprisingly slack. Well quite duh when gp was free period, maths lect was spent counting "alright ok effectively consider obviously" from the lol lecturer. Um for the record it was 170 alrights, some more the lecture started late cuz got tech problems lol qt amusing.

PE was golf. Amusing we wanted to ks the course but mr ortega owned us for being too cunning. Well quite a wind-down lesson so it was quite fun. Did random stuff with the rest then slacked in library then cartel with plan and kevin, where we met assorted ogs and ogls. Whoa this yr's ogs quite rich can go and eat at such ex places with so many people. My og wld have complained like shit that we will just settle for something cheaper.

GP CT was quite exciting. Wrote on the topic on democracy being the worst form of govt. I liked the topic lah so i wrote it. Woo hoo the compre was from economist! But i dont read my mags in detail you know. Darn must read properly alr.

No we didnt get pw results today. Darn. Well nvm, but rj j3s did quite well.

PE was mudcake. Barefoot on the mud logged and water logged field. Felt quite fun squishing arnd the field, but contact and passing was quite off wdv. Not a very happy session though although it had good football, with all the conflicting stuff hell with it lah.

Am gushing over jean-jacques goldman's songs. I like esp ensemble, je te donne and tournent les violons. Tournent les violons is like the pinnacle of the songs that i like, with orchestral, different singing styles in one song, with different sections (not necessarily a 4 part thing). I must find the tenor-bass of pie jesu (a la monty python haha)

Woo it's late alr. Got medicine talk tml haha. I must start mugging chem. Let's start from the back safer isnt it. Finished equilibria. Today is a good day. Or so i think. Circuits were kinda okay ytd so i wasnt feeling bad today. The lectures were quite boring honestly, i preferred if they did something more seminar-ish but i guess there is things such as manpower and fees to talk about, so i guess this might be the best arrangement after all. GP was spent self-amusing, amusing benlow and getting amused by benlow. Not much comments there.

Had lunch with "go search your moral conscience" junior class. Not bad at all i guess i learnt a few more names today. And it's kinda funny that you somehow feel close to your junior class even if you havent met some of them before. I guess we make a good junior-senior combi so exciting.

PE was weights so it was quite slack. I must start getting closer to my 1rm or else. Well nvm qt good session nevertheless. Crashed bio remedial where i got a B for lecture test not bad. Then did chem, stupid stuff, binged with class people. Decided not to go for the london u talks cuz im only interested in lse, and not kcl ucl or imperial.

[Lucas Critique]

Stupid blogger screwed up on me. Like this morning so i cant blog until now. Wdv haha.

Life is good again, after finishing 2341 words of economics. Felt some unprecedented feeling of goodness. I think this topic really clears all the doubts i had for econs, like all its unrealistic postulates and stuff. Quite cool. Lucas Critique tells us that microeconomics pwns macro. I beg to differ. No lah because macro seems slightly easier?

But then, i need to mug for bio spa, and finish bio by today so that i can start on maths. Abandon chem for the time being, which is like duh take up all my time in the end. Oh and maths. Got 2 question cushion so it's alright.

I realise i can start doing layout for campus again. Piece of shit. Now everything is piling on top but nvm. There's still a lot of time left to submission of final thing. I got 2 weeks and now got j1s. Whee. Life is really good now.

School. Trials are over, scored in soccer during pe, had 3 hours of chem in 2 days (which was extremely useful and satisfying. read: increased confidence in retaining the result i got for promos).

I need to: fill up particulars on econs board, submit form to ssc, hand in h3. Argh i bet i'll forget some of them. I think i need to paste some post it on my bag or something. Later haha.

[CNY]

I have a love-hate relationship with cny. Perhaps it's because of the people i meet, and the emotions of these people change every time i meet them, esp so during cny don't ask why. The questions like "Got girlfriend?" "What did you get for your exam?" "Want to sing?" all disappeared this year, but perhaps in return came a "whoa. he from raffles leh." mutter and whisper amongst them. O_o like wth lah.

This only happens for the relatives on my dad's side (who i see only once a year). I see relatives on my mum's side almost every week, safe for some of them, and they also got kids in top jcs, so there isnt much of a problem. Lucky man.

Talked to my aunt, who's like 1 year older than me haha, and getting her 'A's in a few days. Woo hoo good luck, and so will i for friking pw. I think it's funny that u have aunts who are older than you by a few years, and you have cousin who are like 20 years older and 10 years younger. Ah the wonders of social anthropology.

Got me thinking of uni and scholarships again. Haiz. Still uk for me, and i might end up applying for medicine and accountancy, and law&pp. But there's still a 2 year hibernation period, but uni applications start before that isnt it. Will take SATs also, i decided. Maybe during june. Anyone up for it?

I believe it is already cny eve. So i shall backlog now whee.

Take.5 was alright i guess. The clues were quite difficult and there were teams who were serious about winning like hell (bringing maps and stuff). Haha wdv lah lucky my team just gg arnd having some fun whee. Saw a lot of ducks and swans along the way. Got dead snake also. Not bad lah but walking around botanic gardens not v exciting.

Bummed around after that watching mam and benlow and vivek and indra's performance. Aiyah i thought they were good enough to win it. Loved their "Darts of Pleasure". But as always, competitions choose not the best, but choose a winner. But they did v well, better than some other bands imo. "The Irony of it All" - ftw.

Wanted to go out with junior class but in the end it was just kevin and char. Not bad went island creamery (woo exotic flavours like nutella, teh tarik, pulau hitam) plus vivocity. Haha i'm positive that j2 less stress than j1 lah. Last yr where got do this type of stuff like window shopping lol. I think i might be one of the few guys that like to shop. Isnt it so exciting haha.

Rawr i realised i only got 1 new shirt for cny. Blame it on my taste.

[Straight Drive]

I think living life slowly, sometime helps. Like we wake up everyday, and tell ourselves, i need to accomplish task 1-10. Then we think about the things that we look forward to, like FRSIBEE (oh wdv, i am not like an addict or smthg but well it's the ppl u play with that matters isnt it), and the things that we dread for the day. Then u roll off the bed (yes i do that) and life starts.

Then before you sleep, you think what u done, how you spent your day. If you sulk at how you spent your day, that's something for you to work on the next day. Just dont be the famous le sulk. If you done well, well done (haha palindromic), and glhf for tml. Taking things by the day, sometimes is therapeutic. Perhaps it frees up brain space, and maybe less burdens or worries.

The day ended quite well. No PE so the few of us played frisbee in the sports hall. Then i left for meeting and played badminton, wallow in self-pity looking at backhand smashes from the school team ppl trng (maybe it's just applekiwi boy) while the rest did maths and stuff. Then we chilled in class (literally), sing song, play bridge, go home. Ooh the simple pleasures in life.

Valentine's Day! Ok although i think the hype of valentine's day is 1) unnecessary 2) wasteful 3) stupid, the world does need some love sometimes. Like it's just a reason to tell the people who matter to you how much they mean to you. So i will dedicate this post to the people i want to say thanks to! (in no particular order)

07S03H: Well you guys have been a great bunch of people to work with, to mug with, to ~~share answers with~~, to groan about another round of circuits with, and to most importantly, spend 2 years of life with. I cant say i love class every single bit, every single day (i blame it on mood swings and random bouts of emo-ness), but it's nice knowing you all. I learnt a lot of stuff from you all, more from some, even more from others.

Squash: Joining squash, is perhaps the reason why i still believe in fate. (sounds kinda cheesy and abstract, i know, but it's true) I never really had a cca where i can go out with after trngs, laugh about stuff and enjoy company. Perhaps sec 3 and 4 really screwed things up cca-wise, but again, thanks for teaching me the noob the ropes.

RECAS: I think we really have a good comm, and a good programme coming up. Nice to know that there is someone in this world who doesn't think that reading Plato's Republic is weird for a 17 year old.

Today was a nice day. PE was soccer once again. Quite fun. Econs got some random test (which i want to rant about but wdv lah nvm didnt do the 5 mark question so that's like 15 marks left for her to minus haha). The other lessons were just alright. Chilled out in class listening to random music, playing gai qi, gg ri to eat and lend moral support to the sec 4s collecting their hmt results, chilling out in class again after finding out the air-con hack (lol), and gg to library to learn how to fold roses haha qt funny but mine looks like shit.

Played trials. Won 15-3, 3-15, 15-13. Woo hoo damn exciting lah i gg left quad and hamstring so i flunked my 2nd game cannot reach for ball. So pain barrier the third game but it was a good one, kinda close and heart attack-like. Then my ankle ggxx. Like what the shit. Maybe frisbee plus badminton plus soccer just compounded and owned my ankle. Then i think *he* saw that i was friking tired and wanted to play me but i was refereeing stuff so haha. Was quite pissed abt tt but wth lah, got so many other ppl to play. In the end i think he din play anyone at all lah what the shit. I mean what's wrong with losing, everything's fair on on court and there's nothing to be ashamed of if you tried.

Went chomp chomp, then cartel for coffee. I think espresso is wearing off me, or caffeine no longer has any effect on me. Shit. Well the bottled Nescafe never had any effect for me at third lang.

[Missile Silos]

Long day today, but it went by quite surprisingly quickly dunno why. GP intros ftw haha. From the Aegean Sea, to the Mongolian Steppes, to the trenches of Somme, to the beaches of Normandy, to the missile silos in Cuba, our world has seen, hear and experienced violence countless of times. Haha read this man. Amusing lol. Oh and btw it's in chronological order. I did something like that for the promo essay (with less examples of course), and it's about religion. If i'm not wrong.

Did you know that South Africa has 3 capitals? They are Pretoria (executive capital), Bloemfontein (judicial capital) and Cape Town (legislative capital). Talk about montesquieu's separation of the branches of government at its best? And South Africa's largest city is Johannesburg. Quite weird isn't it?

Econs was quite ok. GP watched movie "good night, and good luck". I think it's quite good, but kinda boring at some parts. McCarthyism is quite whattheshit. It goes against everything the us constitution says and they allow it to go on for such a long time. Ingrates.

Plan asked me about the origins of the cold war. Haha we didnt really learn it for history, but i think it is really qt important to know. Actually it is disputed but you can trace from some routes: economy (development of Manchuria), Russian revolution (US supporting the whites in their fight against the red Bolsheviks who won in the end), World War 1 (Brest-Litovsk treaty), World War 2 (Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, opening of western front debate, atomic bomb snubbing of russia, different security ideologies (US style peaceful internal settlement vs Soviet "buffer zone" tactic)). Others like proxy wars such as Korea and Vietnam and nuclear missiles just further exacerbate the threat.

[Corner Kick]

Today is a fantastic day. Singapore won in thailand! Haha take that u thai *wdv*. Ok lah actually they din play too badly, in fact i think they played better than singapore. We had hell lot of luck lah, esp when the defence is sleeping (thank goodness for the open goal save by Noh if not ggxx eh). And the thai goal was very nice, quite classy. But the singapore goal was better. Got standard, gk had zero chance.

Problem with singapore is that we cant play long balls from defence v well. Midfield not aggressive enough to cross under pressure. Attack was kinda toothless cuz got not much support. The defence did overlapping quite well, but the same cannot be said for the midfield for the attack. Still playing a bit of kampong football 3 ppl chase 1 thai also cannot catch. Off the ball was sluggish. Cannot play high ball. But the movements after khairul amri came on was good. A lot of creativity in the passes, although too concentrated on the right wing in my opinion.

The referee was as full of shit as the first one. Yellow card for time wasting, nothing for studs up challenge against thailand. Nothing for holding or fouling on Alam Shah. And after thais conceded a goal they like dun want to play alr. Play like italy, as if they are like leading or something.

And daren won superstar! Right i thought he sung better, although the judges thought otherwise esp for the hiphop section. Rawr 2 year contract with Warner. Haha no more play music this year not bad. The malaysian guy sings quite well.

Spent the day on gp essay outlines. Haha din touch maths again (i promise will touch tml or tue). A lot of politicking stuff in my head now. Oh and i realised got full text of a lot of stuff on Wikisource like The Prince and On Liberty. I like.

I think what u said was true, and is true. But perhaps all of them are true, at some point in time. Just not this point in time. But i guess, my parents were never wrong.

[La Vida Sin Amor]

Soccer was fun. Class decor is quite fun also, writing random stuff like tic-tac-toe, draw econs graph and the spamming of "jargon". Gym session, well was not too bad, ticketing was quite alright.

Hse party! I think the concept of it was good, but i think it wont work financially anw. Food was kinda ripped off, the bands were fine, everyone in the end just degen and played bridge. Hula-hoop thing was quite funny and i think it lifted everyone spirits and stuff. Haha it's fun to see classmates participating.

I think it was quite well planned as a whole, but i think it did not go as well as planned because not enough j1s went. And after 3 hse parties in 3 weeks, everyone alr feeling damn sian alr lah. What are they thinking about scheduling this kind of stuff. Must give lag time mah.

Perhaps what mr seah said a few months ago was really true.

I dont really like thursdays, but today was fine. The ending was quite good haha.

Lectures are quite boring and stuff and haha gp was shocking. I got quite high for the gandhi compre and nazi was just laughing his head off with his imba and shockingly high marks hehe. PE was catching. Haha we got pwnz but it was quite fun nevertheless. Cleaned up class and went for some secret thing haha at least it was fun. Woo hoo imba scheming lah all of them.

Ate at my fav cheap jap store at raffles city with kevin. Haha lucky i didnt disappoint him. I think the ppl there recognise me but wdv lah since my family goes there so often, they shld.

Haha i got imba lot of weaknesses lah, but i think it's impt for us to know what they are so that we can constantly improve ourselves and attempt to change for the better, but of course friends play a part in that too. I think it's abt being pessimistic and all, knowing how sucky u can be.

I cant believe i didnt blog abt asean first leg woo hoo s'pore won. The thais are freaking funny, acting like small kids. Like i mean the penalty might not go in right (although it did, and as zheng said fifa 99 style top corner champion), and when u get a bad decision against you you can protest, but you move on cuz it's not going to change anything. If i were the ref i wld have red carded all of them. Utter disrespect for the game and poor sportsmanships. The boos were justified. "Waste 14 minutes of my life" right.

Writing econs essays in class totally suck. Well ticketing din go really well also, cuz i mean most ppl are getting bored of hse parties and stuff alr, and i doubt any non-bw ppl will go for this (prove me wrong tml!!) Last civics on guy-girl stuff. Not bad session haha with "panel of experts". The rest of the day was quite a bore other than us suaning derrick ong of his cool hair, looking at grandmaster wong's chess notes which are utterly imba and playing gai qi. Haha quite fun.

Just finished the budget essay. Quite pleased with the work, but i know there's something more to it but i cant figure out anything more. Becker's theory of family, Micerian Wage Regression model, income effect and price effect was what i used. The others are quite common like income, real disposable income, subsidies. No graphs! FTW. Finished way ahead of schedule i thought i needed to do it until like 12 plus. I guess not. After finishing econs i wanted to start on essay outlines for gp, but wdv we can do it tml in class anw haha. The topics are just so...un-imba.

PE was quite ok although we got owned at the start, yeah it was our fault so just suck it up guys. But at least mr koh was still nice abt it haha if it was someone else i think we no need to play alr. Soccer at indoor gym qt tiring, i realised today. And zheng! Our epic gai qi match lol.

Pearly owned me by failing my drq, our whole class owned her by bombing her with questions abt the unemployment bit. Haha actually both are correct, just that she didnt explain it properly. Long day. But in the end it was qt alright. GP was quite ok lah, haha split into pw groups so funny. We were writing like italian so it was less boring. Well presentations next lesson so it should be more fun. PE was haha playing soccer with some imba small and bouncy ball/small plastic ball. Was sent off with avery for crushing the small plastic ball. Not like it's not reversible but haha quite funny. PE was more relaxing nowadays haha.

Badminton after tt with zheng and kevin. Crashed rec bad then went off for interviews. Ok so we chose our people alr not bad i must say. The questions are quite amusing haha i think we must say something about it when the first meeting comes.

[American Scoring]

Today was a tiring day. NAPFA trial test, i think i passed lah so ok. Class was fine except angsting over energy diagrams and stuff lol. Went to RI to eat (again). See consumer choice in action i think if we continue to do this they are gg to bar us from the RI canteen haha. I hope not.

The long break was good. Apart from talking cock on the 2nd floor of library, seeing gossips and stuff. Haha squash juniors are quite funny also. Play all those kind of stupid stupid games absolutely hilarious i tell u.

I finished my application for the stanford thingy. I think it's quite shitty cuz the questions are quite err...ok. Like wdv i think i bombed them during the 300 word tell us abt yourself part. Things like "idealist in cynic clothing" - quote random classmate, "jack-of-many-trades", "construct my own religious beliefs" came up. The interviewers are in for an exciting time. If i get to the interview round that is with my ggxx application. See first.

I love wednesdays.

Econs was qt slack, other than pearly gl-ing me at the start of the lesson. Haha wdv it was qt funny anw. We learnt qt a lot lah so ok. GP was well, better, but still rather un-exciting. Talked about law and responsibility vs intent. I mean there's a difference isn't it. Well there's the yamashita standard, there's murder, manslaughter, culpable homicide etc.

The only exciting part was when she talked about the bible. Well it's kinda religious so everyone was quite pumped up i think.

[Tutto Normale]

I thought civics today was quite funny. The mars and venus thing is incredible, it just adds to my belief of the mold that we are all cast into today to think this way, to do this that way, to feel this that way. It was all politically incorrect, but at least we had fun anyway. Haha conflict resolution was never so easy until today lol.

The rest of the day just couldnt match up to the highness of civics darn. RI canteen is up again and "1.6 million handsome" and "thank you handsome" just resonated. Like it doesnt really mean much, but yet it means so much. Haha seeing sec 1s and us as j2s just brings back imba memories.

Sometimes things like photos, music and videos are things that we hang on to. I keep that cd that gave us during orientation in sec 1, grad night at sec 4, some commemorative pri school thing when i was sec 1 stashed away in my drawer. Perhaps we are scared, well i am scared, that one day if i forget things when i reach 60, i still got these things to remind me of my earlier days.

But then i realised today, the things that matter to you will stay with you forever, just like the song that you also wanted but couldn't get will also resonate in your mind. It doesn't matter if the photo isn't there anymore. It's just human nature that we focus on animate objects rather than the inanimate, which will live on, and on. Some things, we will never forget. If you could remember what happened 2 years ago 20 years down the road, you have done your friends a great justice. Doesn't matter if the photo isn't there. Well the photo being not there makes these memories even more precious isn't it?

Just some thoughts about these few days.

[Politics]

I am quite screwed on the political spectrum, i just realised tt. There is nothing mainstream that i can wholly subscribe to. How sad. Esp after reading the gp thingy that we are supposed to read, i realised that i agree with both sides of the stories, and have established when to use what. The only things i don't agree is the fundamentalist (anti-millian) and equality of outcome (as opposed to equality of opportunity)

What purpose should the state serve? Hobbes believes that humans are violent and will commit acts of aggression. However he also says that through reason, humans understand the need to protect themselves by submitting to authority in the form of a social contract. I agree with this, expect the reasons why humans submit to authority. Humans, in real form, are free to exercise free will, but it is the realisation that other people's free will could possibly impede the free will of others that cause them to submit to authority who regulates laws.

Should states promote equality? Yes, only through the promotion of equality of opportunity. The trap of total equality is an immense strain on welfare economies. The trap of no equality (even of opportunity) is backlash. If similar opportunities are not presented to all, the country has to deal with even more socio-economic problems like poverty, income inequality, externalities etc. I see Nietzsche's arguments as a subset of relativism of morality, and it highlights the trap of the failure to present equality of opportunities. On a side note, i think that man isn't exactly made equal as karma determines that our appearance, talent, environment, wealth and health is not equal for everyone.

What's the best form of governance? Nietzsche doesn't seem to agree that democracy is a good form of governance as it has slave morality in it. But what democracy does is to empower slaves (in Nietzsche's words) to become masters. The constant change of governments that we see in most democracies (or at least change in policy) is due to the constant swap between slave and master. If a slave doesn't become a master, and vice versa, how does one create good policies for both? Democracies are able to plug this problem. Madisonian ones especially as the failure to institute one could cause corruption, power haggling and hogging of power through underhand means such as gerrymandering and pork-barrels.

But in places and times where the focus on man is not on governance but bread and butter, democracy is not a good solution. From the same focal point, people will approach questions from their own pov. But a country can't just subscribe to the majority pov (usually the peasants in poorer countries) without stifling progress sometimes (eg. free trade, conscription). Machiavellianism solves this problem by controlling people with fear, having one goal and protecting its citizens. In this way, governments of these countries are truly doing them a favour, even if it is through fear, as the short term views of peasants actually kills the country. (think of positive externalities and its associate problems)

Should states try to help us to be ethical? Libertarian is the way to go in my opinion. If we haggle and dispute over mundane things, there isn't really much time to deal with other more important problems. What many people fail to understand that being pro-something doesn't necessarily equate to be anti anti-something. For example, having a pro-choice policy does not mean that the government thinks anti-abortionists are wrong. But being anti-abortionists will necessarily mean that pro-choice people are wrong.

As stated in the previous arguments, governments arise due to the presence of reason in people who realise that other people's free will could possibly impede the free will of others. Government should only crack on choices which impedes the free will of others or contributes directly to negative externalities which impedes the system of progressiveness in society (eg. drug trafficking). Mill's arguments on the harm principle basically sums this all up. Different viewpoints can also help Madisonian democracies to become truly democratic by being more open to participation. However, more enveloping laws should be put in place in Machiavellian politics (but not excessive like curfews) to ensure continuous submission of the masses.

What's the struggle in today's politics? The struggle today is to convert from tried-and-tested authoritarian governance to Madisonian democracies. Education has caused many people to be more wise and less myopic about their thinking (recall Nietzsche), thus their wisdom could potentially kill off governments by constant lambasting of their authoritarian masters who hog onto power for their own reasons. Not letting go can cause the country to go backwards in terms of achievements, culture and thought. Authoritarian systems set the ground for Madisonian democracies, but the failure to convert to Madisonian when it's time to can kill off the government. That's why many countries require revolutions (France, Iraq, America) to overcome their past to embrace Madisonian democracies.

[His Brother's Keeper]

An eventful day i guess. Lectures and tutorials coming in at full blast, suddenly mrs toh bombed us by saying that she wont be teaching us anymore. Well it's quite hard to accept it, because i really enjoyed going to her lessons (even for boring topics like gender and stuff) and she is able to build a good rapport with all of us like gg for our outings and stuff. She is one of the few teachers that i think have a good grounding not in just the factual stuff but also outside it (random infos, stats, quotes etc) And she seems to be extremely well prepared for every lesson, perhaps engineer it to her desired location, respect.

If you're reading this mrs toh (i guess not), S03H will miss you loads!

Kind of a sad thing for me, cuz i think mrs toh is an extremely good and lively gp teacher. Not v sure if the new teacher is able to keep up with the rigorous current affairs and general knowledge skills that she has. Well i hope, and i hope that the new teacher can impress all of us.

Right. Haha anw pulp fiction is a really cool movie. Thanks mie for giving it to me haha. The fragmentation of the plot makes it kind of interesting and the constant flashbacks increased my interest in it. I particularly liked the start and the end parts of the movie. Just that it has a lot of curse words haha but i dun really care. I think i will talk more about it later.

[P&C]

Something is weird about class these days. Perhaps paper chase has caught with all of us huh? Well there is half of the class which goes crazy with soviet russian reversal jokes and "your mother's so fat that..." jokes. During gp the same half spouts out champion political science stuff and the other just like degen ggxx. Last year it was kinda more balanced and stuff.

Maybe everyone just wants to absorb stuff so some element of fun goes away? Haha i really dunno but it's fun cracking all those jokes.

CCA feste was quite brillant good job guys we managed to get quite a bit of really interested people, some who want to layouting! Whee i am so happy! But i think talk too much my voice like dying and stuff.

[Failure & Success]

I thought civics today was v meaningful. Gd job plan and zheng. Like about failure and stuff. We fail because we cannot overcome our fears, we fail because we stop trying. We fail because we cant comfort ourselves that we can try again tml. But for me most importantly, we fail because we don't know ourselves well enough.

Many a time, there is a psychological trap for us to think more highly or lowly for ourselves in the face of other people. Many things we think we are good at we actually suck at it, and the things we think we suck at, we are actually quite good at it. In the second instance, fear strikes us too much for us to stand up again. In the first scenario, fear strikes us too little, and sometimes too late. There is ultimately no one who fears nothing, or everything.

Success comes because we know about our fears, we know what we can overcome, and what we need some time to think about. For those we can overcome, successful people will do it. For those we cant, successful people will take a step back, relook at the problem to see if it still can be done. If it can good for you, if cannot then seek help.

Seeking help is perhaps one of the most unlikely way to achieve success. Many times we fail (or so call fail) because we slip up on an opportunity to achieve success. We focus too much on a particular job that we forget our grand plan to achieve your greatest goal.

And i thought the writing words of appreciation for classmates today was really good and overdue like long time ago. Really makes you think about the people arnd you, and hopefully cherish them more. (but i dun think i will suan you less anw haha)

[Overcommitment]

Gave out campus today, which looked so pretty yay! Hope all of you had a good read, and campus will see you again in 2 months! Almost all the ogls have horribly lost their voices so must go drink honey water plus lemon. Ex-choirboy tell you wont be wrong lah. Works wonders. It had constantly saved me for 3+ years so i guess it has to work isnt it?

Today was a painful day. Ytd went gym havent recover then do conditioning for pe. Which was tiring but it was a good session. Plus training whee. I think i will have to roll off the bed to wake up tmr. Haha i have doing tt for the past few mornings alr haha.

Today mr wong was telling us that quitters are bad and stuff. Yeah it's kinda true for academics and stuff, (esp for academics in must say) cuz walking away is just stupid and u cant walk away from such stuff without suffering the long terms effects of doing so. But outside academic arenas, and cca, sometimes we gotta learn when the quit. Of course many people quit early (a la take the easy way out), and they accomplish nothing. But then in the other spectrum some people just dunno when to quit, and they get stuck in something like a quagmire.

It is human nature that we want to maximise everything that we have. Firms want to maximise profits, workers want to have maximum wages, parents want their kids to get the maximum marks etc. All of us want to maximise our time and so sometimes we overcommit our time. Too much things, too little time. Learning to quit reduces the chance of diminishing returns, and perhaps you really get more with less. It's a challenge to know when to quit, when is it too early to quit (and become a loser) or too late (and become a dead skeleton), but sometimes you gotta learn how to let go.

[What's your weltanschauung?]

2007. Will be very exciting i hope. I guess this will be the year that matters for all of us, like for our future years. I think it is a critical flaw that some much is dependent on so little time. But whatever we still have to go pass it. I cant really stand any more spa sessions but there are still like dunno how many more.

I never followed to my resolutions (if i ever write them) for the simple reason that i forget them very quickly. For this yr it should be simple, follow the plan and get the best out of the year. Simple enough heh? I think i will sign up for the stanford book prize thingy just for the fun of it. Plus other stuff like nus challenge shield which i will go for (blindly missed it last year) and other exciting stuff.

I must be a good ccal this year. And what a better way to start it off than do good interviews and a good cca feste!

Wednesday beckons. Omg another compre assignment. GGXX i need to sit with an english pro volunteer your services please.

I have been shopping tee hee. To find the perfect shirt and tshirt. See my taste isnt that great. I just want shirts with good color combis, thin single-colour strips against a nice dark colour background. And i just want tshirts with nice design (not aimless splashing of words that mean nothing), without those denim pockety stuff. The problem: economics. Every shirt i see has 3 figures. Every tshirt i see has at least 2 figures and the 1st figure is more than 6. GGXX.

Nehmind there's still 1 more month to cny i can wait until them. Darn.

And my dumb creative zen v hung like mad so we went to service centre to own the person and they gave a zen v plus in return. Haha i like, at least it doesnt screw up anymore.

And i did philosophy and chemistry Right Word for fun cuz i was bored. There seems to be nothing much to do around, other than testimonial (which i wont do until later) and gp (which i sent to azrin alr!!!). Dun shoot me please. Do your homework lazy bums goodnight.

[2006, gone]

Soon. It's less than 4 hours to the start of 2007, and with quite a bit of time left around here, i think i shld do a proper run through of my year. I dedicate this to the new people i have known this year, from my OG, class, squashies, recas people, raffles press people, people i meet here and there for not much reason, haha this is for you, for making 2006 extremely special.

OG: The first people i ever knew at rj. A very nice bunch of people, thanks for making the beginning of school so much more exciting and fun. I hope we still have our bridge meetings every morn (we have to change location already isnt it? or shld we assimilate a j1 og? lol)

3H: Compared to 4i, perhaps 3h doesnt really measure up. But i think 4i was created under very unique circumstances, so 3h is perhaps the next best alternative. Compared to many classes, i think we are a good class, in terms of studies and people factor. Yes some of us dont hang around that often with the rest of the class, but at least we are still united aint we? I think things will only get better next year, just that academics will just get worse nxt year. 3h taught me a lot, not just those stuff in class, but also like rships, self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses, learning how to deal with people etc. I learnt more here than any other place so thanks =)

Squash: A new cca for me, ask me why i joined it and i tell u i dunno why. But it has been a good experience, and i really enjoyed my time around u guys esp the after training lunches. It has been a good switch from a musical cca.

RECAS: The coolest bunch of people arnd school! Haha really. I thoroughly enjoyed myself here, because there are really some like-minded people who share my views, oppose my views, but most impt share my passion for current affairs, politics and econs. Woo great. I think it will be great year ahead behind our champion chair lock!

Raffles Press: Life's getting tough eh? With Campus plus the new look SEASON there is enough opportunity for everyone. We have got a strength of 7 now, but that will change next year! We will have more people!! Most impt, this has been one of the things i wanted to do for a long time. Design and edit articles for publishing. You guys amaze me sometimes with the quality. It's a good contrast for what i normally do in cca and academics.

Council elections: I think some people still think i got passed elections haha. (i just got asked that question a few days back, believe it or not) It has been a good experience, and really positioned me to really do things that interest me (like house comm). I had a good experience campaigning with kartik and lawrence, but alas i hated going up on stage to campaign for votes. This experience was a tiring one, esp the time after elections with all the "eh i din vote for u, but u got in right?". But at the end of the day, i showed myself that i can do it, i am up for the job, just that i didnt get enough votes. Elections? Haha go for the real ones next time lah.

Befriender: I liked ushering duties, and i still do. Gives me great pride and achievement to lead to bunch of wide eyed sec 4s around rj, answering questions, comforting them etc. This was the most fulfilling CIP hours i ever got. Many thanks to people like shaosheng (whose grp i crashed and co-led), edwina (dance partner!) and the befrienders in 3H (for pissing off mdm fadilah when we did the dance during supposedly pw dry run and just being arnd) OGL was something i wanted, but alas i din get it, well tt's fine cuz campus had been a crazy time. OGL interviews was weird in some sense cuz i din get anything like what the other talked about. I must state here that council interviews were much for fulfilling for me as in i knew more about myself after that.

House: Fencing was absolutely cool. I will go for it again next year if i cld, and others too. House comm barely started, but i think it sounds quite interesting. Am looking forward to IHC =)

Academics: BCCCE to AABCC. Enough said. Soon enough, it will be AAAAA plus H3 dist haha. Soon enough, but must mug hard lah haha.

2006 was memorable, even if it wont last for long anymore. 2006 will always hold something special for me, not just on paper, but also off it, into the human heart. It was 2006 when i realised:

Friendships never existed on word of mouth. It existed because two people wanted to salvage a downhill situation - something which they won't normally do. But for the relationship, they did.

True love existed, only when you are sure that you will be the happiest with her, and she will be the happiest with you. In economic terms, you need to have a job first. Or alternatively, have a rich dad.

Karma is everywhere. Repercussions will always be around to surround you. That is why some people are born pretty, others born wealthy, smart, healthy, with opportunity.

Due to our over reliance on taiwan, internet has lagged like bomb so cannot update until today. Ok not really lah, but i just got no patience to wait and wait and wait.

First of all, thanks to sherwin for hosting us at his house for 4i class outing, and all the organisers! Haha it's quite amazing that we still have sec 4 class outings. Training today was ok, but my strings broke near the end so im racketless now. And school's starting in 5 days! How exciting. [Poco Crescendo]

It's getting kind late (i know it's not even midnight, but i'm really not a very night bird person). Believe it or not i am the only person in this house that is awake now. Ok i wanted to blog about today as it was an interesting day today.

Went for recas today, which was Really Exciting, Cool And Sexy. We talked about the proposed gst hikes and we got quite a bit out of the discussion. One of the pts that i raised which i believe quite fervently in is that i wont bother contemplating if the extra revenue really goes to the poor or not, but i think the strain of the gst hike will be a strain to the lower middle income group level, about $2000 to $3000-$3500 strata. This makes up quite a significant proportion of the singapore population. See the irony of this strata. They are too rich to get subsidies. Granted, if ppl like them cld get subsidies, everyone will be entitled to one. They are too poor to have enough savings for houses, maids and cars. Plus many are financially tied down with 2-3 kids, parents on both sides etc. Their real disposable income cld possibly be even lower than those of the lowest income group.

Another thing that is kinda related to this issue is house ownership. I dont believe that prices of homes need to be so expensive in singapore. I think it is possible for houses to be cut 50% of its present price, not to the extent of australian prices, but u know, about half price. Many people are paying through their noses on long term 30-year loan deals which they pay in the end double of their principal. And the worse thing is that everyone thinks that such deals are worthwhile. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you could keep your job, and nothing happens to you then it could be fine. But let's say u buy your first house at 30, you will have to sustain this income to pay your installments until you are 60 that is absolutely ridiculous. And paying quarter million for a 5 room or executive flat? I think that is excessive. My parents sold our old executive flat for $461,000. That is crazy imo, and that is only slightly above valuation. Wow.

Ok less econsy stuff now. Class chalet is fine, but not much ppl staying. Sorry i got trng, so i cannot stay! I really want to lah. And the usual complains that our class isnt really bonded but more cliquish than anything else. But i remember what someone told me before about his class, and well, i think our class is still much better compared to a large proportion of the cohort. Go 3h! We may need large improvements in terms of class bonding, but i think we still are a cool and exciting class!

I suddenly remembered about the CCA/CIP personal reflections thing. Omg. I think i will write one on CAMPUS/SEASON/Raffles Press, one on HIV awareness CIP (which is coming up soon for Raffles Press) and possibly RECAS NHB CIP or House stuff. I got some more things to write like competitions, but i think they are quite crappy to be in your testimonial. Yeap. The problem is, i cant really string a good paragraph for the Raffles Press one. Must go think about it, it was definitely a good experience.

[Joyful and triumphant]

Merry christmas people!

This year's christmas feels a little, weird. Well almost every year to the run up to christmas i have quite a lot of things to do, like caroling, and stuff. I know i din carol last year, and din feel anything, perhaps cuz of the euphoria of going to a new school. I dunno, but i guess caroling was my favourite part of choir. Ah now i remember the good times we had at Hofheim, such a cool place.

I proclaim i finished my homework! Yes bio, h3 econs all done! Whee i am absolutely happy. ~~I did not plan to, and wont finish maths cuz vectors absolutely sucks, and i din understand shit.~~ Oh and becuz of mr ong's great post promos plans, i managed to figure out photosynthesis! Thanks mr ong for pushing me, if not me the lazy bum will just wait until CTs and panic. I must get A for bio.

U wont imagine what i was doing the past few days. Other than battlefield vietnam, fifa 2003, i have been writing stuff. And worrying about university. Rawr after some thought i think i will take SATs like in june.

I always wanted to be a doctor, i dont really know why. Perhaps i was inspired as a kid by what doctors did (i was like damn sickly child, forever cough, cold and stuff). I never wanted to be a surgeon, only either a psychiatrist or paediatrician. I like kids, and i think insane people need some help.

Ok. I need to study econs. And read economist. Woo hoo 2 issues lagging.

[What are your weaknesses?]

I was thinking about introductions when i was doing campus. Like how everyone introduces themselves to a new friend, a interviewer etc. Digressing, campus editing is absolutely horrid. Dont want to wash dirty linen here, but i must say we are lucky that ms lim saw it and told us. It's the pl-word, that every university undergrad and editor fears.

See when we introduce ourselves, we are actually picking out the things we are proud of that we identify ourselves with. Especially so with interviewers. "I was the team captain of the waterpolo team" "I am the editor of the school newspaper" Nothing wrong about that, but i think if the interview only goes about such things it is skin deep.

Ever got an interviewer to ask you, "What are your weaknesses?" Is this question quite difficult to answer? Everyone knows what to say when the council interviewer asks you what are your strengths, everyone knows what to say to the job interviewer at a large foreign bank when they ask how are you able to contribute. But not everyone thinks about "what are my weaknesses"

I think being able to answer this question shows not only strength in character, understanding yourself, but also confidence in yourself that hey, i have weaknesses, but i have enough strengths to cover them. Perhaps it's really not in some of your character to question yourself about this, but most cynics are able to do it.

I think i was asked this question at one interview (wont tell you which one, you can ask me but i may not tell you haha). I told the panel that i had a short fuse, impatient, demanding, stubborn and unable to take criticism well (which they quizzed me further on). You may think that it may be suicidal to say such stuff for such questions (many will just hush hush, and say some random bad trait like "sometimes unfocused", "emotional", but...

I passed that interview.

I must say i am impressed with interviewers who ask this question. It's a very simple one, but it's very easy to see if someone really knows himself well or not. Important credential, more impt than the certs.

[Happiness]

Ytd i was on the train. There was a young boy, about 5-6 years old, sitting on a seat, sleeping. He looked so calm and serene, oblivious to his surroundings. He projected a calm image of innocence and infancy, around the adults that projected nothing but thoughts, thoughts and more thoughts. His mum looked as if she had 10000 problems on her mind, the girl sitting next to her was just amused that she was sitting next to a sleeping kid, and the man next to the kid was just too engrossed in his book to think about the kid.

My point? Infancy is, perhaps, the happiest time of someone's life, but sometimes also, the least fulfilling one. The infant has not much problems on his own, unlike the people around him. But then, (as i forgot to tell you), ppl on the train that saw him sleeping smiled.

Happiness is relative to you. That's why happy people rarely become happier, and it's easier to make sad people happy than make happy people which are down happy. If we immersed ourselves in happiness all day, will we ever understand what it means to be happy?

Another thing that is relative is trust. We all seem to have this trust-o-meter. Do good things and i trust you more. Being a complete idiot reduces your score. The part of trust being relative is, sadly, first impressions. Having a good impression (hm, this person looks good) (hm, this person seems to be a trustworthy one), increases your starting score leaps and bounds. And if a person looks good, when he faults, less pts are deducted.

This happens in life too.

That's why i think that karma determines 6 traits in people: wealth, health, talent (intelligence, iq), mind (eq, emotional satisfaction), environment (you live in) and beauty. The higher your karma, the higher the number of choices you can play around with within these 5 traits. Perhaps tt's why people say that pretty people die young. Too much eggs put into the beauty basket that nothing is left in the health one.

P.s. how happy you can be, is determined by mind. You can have everything in the world, but if your mind pt is bad, you are sure to lead a sucky life man.

Back from squash chalet. Quite a nice one, and the numbers are qt small when it's supposed to be small (haha esp for sleeping space) and big when it shld be (bbq). Nice i like. 1st day was doing bbq and without a scout, we had ingenious ways of setting the fire cuz the fire starters just wont burn. We set plates with fire starters and charcoal on fire and hill set newspapers alight haha. Got a lot of ppl come, almost all nv see b4. Looks like gender ratio next yr also a bit ~~screwed~~ skewed but who really cares. RPress also gg to be like tt also i think.

1st night we blackjacked i made money thanks, but it was reversed the nxt day so wdv haha. Nv liked gambling of any sort anyway. I dunno abt you all, but i dont really like the idea of gambling, perhaps took it from my father. If i bet a certain amount, i must be dead sure that i am willing to lose everything so if i appear unhappy if you are looking for a quick buck i dun mean that im not receptive, just need to think abt it. No amount is too small to lose for me i guess. Im a miser rawr. So what haha. I let go money where it's really needed imo.

We also played game of life (where in money i pwnz but with life tiles junxin pwnz all) and risk (haha this one deserves a para later) and mahjong and poker (changxun's favourite definitely) and top spin (wdv all of us are hooked on racket games anw) and fifa street (utterly pwned by others).

For risk i ggxx. We played sekret mission risk and mine was to conquer asia and africa. With only 4 troops in north africa (after nicole pwned me in africa cuz hers was to annihilate all my troops) and 2 in western australia, 2 words: FAT HOPE. But anw got lucky and got 10 troops. By then i had relocated to southern europe to prevent the in rush of yuru's troops from brazil and hope she wld kill off nicole instead. Whoa military tactics siah. So the 10 went to western australia and i overran nicole's troops in e.aussie, png and indonesia and siam to pwn. But in the end yuru won cuz she needed 22 territories so damn. Such a good position man.

That's why i dont feel much anger, anguish or nonchalance when it come to ns. I think it wont be slack at all, and qt tiring i think too. But military and the associate stuff are something tt i am interested in. I expect to rant a lot abt army next time, but i think it will be a good exp anw. And so happen on the way to tm we talked abt army also haha.

Got supper somemore haha. It's nice to spend a few days with ppl tt you know and got team bonding haha. After all i guess it's fate that bring ppl tgt. And why not embrace fate with laughter? Although i think i wont be cooking with butter for some time. And be apprehensive to the evil microwave after it exploded cx's egg-in-a-cup.

Need to continue on layout plus finish up econs. I am good. Can relax for the hols i think. Maybe last week i need to mug the funny vectors crap. Plus photosynthesis.

Hehe got a creative zen v. Not the newest model but it's cheap $109 for 1 GB. The 2GB one is qt cool but it's qt a bit more expensive cuz my dad got this abn amro deal. It's qt nice and got this white silicon (or rubber or plastic) cover. Nice.

Ok the hols are kicking off qt nicely alr. Got squash chalet from 11 to 14 or 13. I need to get up stop slacking and start trng or else i will gg for napfa next yr. Yes. (thou shalt not procrastinate). Newspaper is gg fine. Sometimes i cant understand how ppl work and how they can go to bed knowing that they are sleeping thru a deadline for something. Forgetful? As my mum always says "everything else forget, want to eat still remember?" I mean yes it's true that you are forgetful sometimes and there are so much things on your mind, a slip or two or three is fine with me also (im not a slavedriver). But after reminders and trying thousands of times to contact the people, nothing gets done. My rant ends thank you.

Borat cracks me up. Was watching his videos online not the movie but the interviews he had done with the various tv stations like GMTV, CNN and shows like the late late show with craig ferguson, david letterman, daily show with jon stewart etc. Haha it becomes v funny when he realises that 1. the person he's talking to a female journalist 2. the person is jewish and he goes crazyy. My passion for medicine has been rekindled today. I'll be either a paediatrician or a psychiatrist or i will just be a lawyer or an accountant (haha albar wont like this).

I am more than halfway thru my h3 essay. I am happy. Well not really cuz i dont really know how to continue from there. And i feel like a bum but tt's beside the pt. Layout has been going on pretty well but some articles not in. Lucky they din come in today or else they will be butchered like shit. Not a good move to submit poor articles after racking my brains over econs. I bet i will fail the essay but what the heck.

Why do people like and love each other? It perhaps is a sense of attraction sometimes, a sense of lost and disorientation that makes you love (like your parents or your s.o.), gratitude? As my favorite frenchie has said, "They is only one thing that can form a bond between men, and that is gratitude. We cannot give someone else greater power over us than we have ourselves." Ok i am focusing more on gratitude here, cuz i just watched the 10 o'clock show on channel u triumph to the skies (it's qt good btw, but terribly lame sometimes). And the guy liked this girl who was dunno how many years younger than him, but i think it's more of gratitude that started it off rather than attraction per se.

I think it is possible in real life that attraction doesnt start things off but rather gratitude for something someone has done. (like those chinese period drama where they yi3 shen1 xiang1 qu3 and all those crap) But such sense of gratitude also latches on a sense of being orientated by that person, and that's the beauty of their rship. That's why i like watching the show haha.

I promise i will do an album review on the corrs album dreams: the ultimate corrs collection soon. Anw i like toss the feathers (pretty cheesy name but full of irish flavour). I like.

I think they shld teach military studies, politics and finance in jc. Then i can take all of them (plus shitty maths) wont life be so cool. Ooh and anw king's col london has war studies (like wtf?) it's like my dream major (with utterly zero practical use unless i join the army full time).

Today was preppy fun. OG outing haha became only 4 ppl outing but it was still qt fun anw. I wonder how the rest of you are doing. I hope hannar ppl have been doing well for the past yr. Ok anw we um pooled and lanned. Quite fun haha and pool esp. Woo me and chinheng krushed plan and trixie. Ok not really lah but chinheng krushed us all with his angle shots. Lol.

Ok now i will do a siempre album review. In case some of u are thinking of either buying or dling (ingrates!!) it. Nothing much is new from this album still the good old il divo stuff. There is a higher proliferation of spanish songs in the album rather than italian. It is moving towards being more operatic or zarzuelan in genre, as in dramatic opera style. Musica and caruso are two prime examples of this.

Some songs are also more popish but they take up only a small part of the album like un regalo que te dio la vida. If you liked european (specifically spanish or italian) pop then perhaps you will like it more. La vida sin amor is also one good example. Although it is more popish the technique of singing is still choral, but perhaps a move towards zarzuela (think carlos' singing style)

I highly recommend la vida sin amor for its spanish flavour, amor venme a buscar for its operatic style (listen from 2.40 onwards it's brillant), por ti sere (a translation of you raise me up 10 times better) and somewhere (both songs have the good old il divo flavour)

[Non-plant transfer]

My old comp died on me. 2 years only leh qt bad right. Haiz so once again aoe3 is gone but wdv lah. I dun have the time to play it anw. Must play those like less time intensive like bf vietnam or bf1942. Which i hope azrin will lend me when he comes back thanks haha.

Oh and in lieu of my died comp, i got a new laptop. Woo bought from sitex qt amazing place. It's a toshiba and it's cheap stuff cuz my dad said he will get me a more powerful one if i need it nxt time as the tech becomes better and better. Which makes a lot of sense. Come to think of it i miss my 1 shoe per month lifestyle, which has become a 2 shoes alternating one now.

It has um 80 gb and 1.66 GHz and 760 MB ram. It looks qt good and it's sexy. And it's toshiba i love japanese products and so does my mum and dad haha.

Urgh i have to load bf vietnam and fifa and maybe sims again. No time got deadline for campus rawr. First issue must do it well haha. I will have to put my money of my good season friend aka ms publisher and the free pdf printer.

And i must add the orientation dance looks psychomotor. But it looks nice.

Looking at orientation articles makes me want to relive orientation again. It was seriously the best part of rj life. Maybe it's just being in a new environment with so many friends to live it thru makes it an unforgettable experiences. Hi haha blogging at botanic gardens office (at the request of linus) and risking our lives. Be thankful!!!

It's 3.55pm now and we have 1.5 hours before we knock off. Linus just screwed up the sharpener and now it cant close properly. So he wrote instructions in the note book and his technique for closing screwed up so he's qt fcked.

Mrs koh is behind us now but who cares!!!

Today i degen even more. 3 bottles. But not my fault. They ran out of the stinky media so haha no need to do. We ended up doing media prep with all the cool substances. ~~You can make wmds with chemicals there. There's one whole bottle of ammonium nitrate, chlorine, clocks, ethanol, lighters, plenty of metal. I think got box batteries also.~~ I din say anything. Oh and there's hell lot of colchicine also. Wow stocked to kill man. Ok i digress.

We did a lot of side jobs like cutting aluminium foil (omg you will never imagine how much foil we cut in 1 hr today), read newspaper, and well dun tell you. This one really cannot tell you. Dangerous stuff. I might tell you if you talk to me on msn, but that's all. Tee hee.

There was a frenchie on the train and he looks like zidane. HE HAS A BALD HEAD TOO. And he was speaking in french and everyone was staring at him like wtf are you speaking man. Haha it sounded funny no offence to frenchies.

Tmr will be fun! Haha. I hope got more dangerous stuff but i doubt it.
